The agent is correct in that 9W is no longer a partner. I must have missed it, but

Looking at BOM-CCU, EY only has codeshares on 9W between BOM and CCU
It looks like the agent was correct that this cannot be done as a single award
What partner airline has service between BOM and CCU? Looking at the schedules, I cannot see any flights operated by an AA partner, so would expect that there is no way to do the flight as an award booking even standalone
