Champagne
Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs
Champagne Taittinger began in the early 1930s, Pierre Taittingers flair for aesthetic elegance and an entrepreneurial vision helping to establish it rapidly as a fine producer of Champagne. With vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and the Aube, Champagne Taittinger continues to embody the precise balance of power and drive softened with elegance and finesse.
Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger this esteemed Champagne house has always been highly regarded for the elegance, consistency and finesse it achieves across the range of cuvees it produces. With vineyards across many of the premium areas of Champagne this house has the ability to source the perfect grapes for the perfect cuvee. Maurice, the son of Pol had a particular love for the richness of the Pinot Noir grape, this was a passion he shared with Sir Winston Churchill a well-known devotee of the house.
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame
The innovative and visionary talent of Mme Clicquot herself has made this Champagne label one of the most recognised and successful of the region. Her determination to share her wine with new markets enabled her to first ship the 1811 vintage to the Imperial court in St Petersburg. A little over 200 years later the house of Veuve Clicquot has many strong relationships with growers and vineyard owners all over Champagne.
Champagne
Veuve Cliquot 2006 La Grande Dame, Champagne, France
Great vintage wines from this house have a dominance of full rich Pinot Noir grapes; the Prestige Cuvee of La Grande Dame seeks more finesse and restraint from a higher percentage of Chardonnay. Complexity, bright acidity and richer in style than previous years it shows stone fruit intertwined with layers of toast and nougat. Undeniable pedigree is revealed in its length and persistence of flavour.
White
Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2014, Clare Valley, South Australia
From the master of Australian Riesling, Jeff Grosset, comes this shining example of why the Clare Valley is so established as a great district for the varietal. Produced exclusively from the 8 hectare vineyard the result is classical, mineral and slate that frame lime citrus along with exotic blossoms. Initially round, the palate evolves to refreshing dryness that is powerful and balanced with precision.
Silkwood Estate The Walcott Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Pemberton, Western Australia
Silkwood Estate is a boutique winery devoted to producing contemporary wines located in the Pemberton wine region in the south west of Western Australia. This wine presents pale straw with a hint of green. The bouquet displays citrus, passionfruit and thyme with hints of frangipani. A lively palate follows with layered elements of tropical fruits, dried herbs and spices, finishing crisp.
Penfolds Reserve Bin 15A Chardonnay 2015, Adelaide Hills, South Australia
One of the jewels in the Penfolds crown, the aroma of this wine will make you smile with anticipation of what's ahead. It has lifted aromatics of sea spray, nuts with smoky layers supporting the aromatics. The palate delivers wonderful intensity with fine acidity and texture which will keep you going back for more.
Red
PHI Pinot Noir 2014, Yarra Valley, Victoria
Derived from the 21st letter of the ancient Greek alphabet, PHI symbolises perfect balance and harmony. Light to medium bodied with outstanding line, length, focus and balance. Again texture is the moving force, although the wine retains fragrance and balance through the gentle handling and minimal laceration.
Penfolds RWT Shiraz 2015, Barossa Valley, South Australia
The RWT has long been one of the most renowned Shiraz in the very heavily lauded stable of Penfolds red wines. This one shows concentrated deep and dark fruits, with ripe and generous aromas. The palate is full of impressive power as you would expect and the fine lingering tannins hold everything in place and deliver a great length on the palate.
Woodlands "Matthew" Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Margaret River, Western Australia
Each year the Woodlands Cabernet Sauvignon is named after a different Watson family member. The wine is produced from the same vines that were planted over 50 years ago in Margaret River by the Watson family in 1973. This is an elegant, medium to full-bodied wine, with a lovely mix of blackcurrant, mulberry and dark cherry. The pallet [sic] has fine, tight tannins and structural finesse.
Dessert
Lillypilly Noble Blend 2015, Riverina, New South Wales
This is one stunningly aromatic dessert wine with tropical fruits and glorious fresh vital passionfruit, lychees and pineapple. This wine is a lighter style with lively acidity supporting the fruit characters. Sweet but balanced and seamless in delivery. Will have you wanting more.
