I think the reason for this is that when doing the nomination online between say 9 March 2018 and 30 April 2018 the system incorrectly only gives the status for the rest of the current membership year so up to 30 April 2019. The nominee is entitled to the full year after (so up to 30 April 2020) but this can only be fixed by calling the GGL line. Alternatively if you nominate after card expiry (so 1 May 2018 onwards) this problem doesn't occur and the nominee would get up to 30 April 2020 automatically.
