Makes sense. We're all paying for inventory spoilage and this will cut down on that.

Maybe Hyatt will start offering a fully flexible rate such as the full F/J/Y offered by air carriers. It will cost more, but may always be cancelled for a refund (or no penalty). People who need the flexibility can pay for it.
