Aside from the LAX catering issues, I recently inquired about BOB items and AA told me that the presence of BOB items no longer is dependent on flight length. It depends on "competitive" considerations, whatever that means. For example, they used to have BOB items available on SEA-PHX, but now they have nothing but a single beverage service.
