This would normally be considered a trip in vain (refunded and credit just for flown segments) and not eligible for ORC. This has been a fuzzy area and hard to predict if you can actually get ORC (if you decline the refund).
Instead of punting, you probably should press for any alternative routing that gets you to the "destination" and then file for ORC if greater miles.
