Out of curiosity, what is the price difference between economy-class and regional business-class/first-class on intra-China flights? Is it significant? While the treatment of an elite status passenger in economy sounds nice I have ti imagine you would get better treatment and better protection in the event of cancellation or significant delays if you were flying up front.
