FWIW, for years I stayed at a midwestern FS where the breakfast buffet was included in our rate M-F. Every morning the ladies had our to-go styrofoam, utensils and bag at the ready and went off to get our choice of juice while we filled the container and good natured ribbing was exchanged. They would give us a bill for the full amount to sign daily and I'd add a few bucks for them and only that would end up on the room master. For years executed perfectly.
Isolated mistakes are going to happen, even if compounded here, hardly indicative of the entire system and this is hardly permanent...
