Did anyone manage to make this work the other way? I.e. LAX-GUM-HKG-LAX? The short red-eye HKG-GUM looks uncomfortable. Whenever I try to price it this way I only get the direct flight HNL-GUM, even though the island hopper has availability (UA154).
Having played around some it turns out the problem was not the direction, as I
managed to price out a westbound milk run. Rather, the problem seems to be that this fare won't work with flights UA154/UA155 that are the long milk runs.
The fare works with flights UA132/UA133 that make 3 stops but flights UA154/UA155 which make 4 or 5 stops don't work.
