And there's always the possibility of flying further on a separate ticket. E.g. BKK is quite good in this aspect as there are a lot of onward connections available and also a good number of AY flights: you can arrive in the morning and continue during the same day, then on the way back you can take a day flight to BKK and continue on the overnight flight to HEL.
