Assuming the rules for Companion Pass stay the same you would not miss out even if denied the 2nd card.
If you time it so that your first 60K post in 2018 you have almost a full year to get the other 50K CPQP.
I would be shocked if at some point in 2018 a 50K or even another 60K offer doesn't pop up plus don't forget there is also a SW Business card.
While your CP may be delayed a month or so I doubt you will miss out unless the rules change
