i.e. if in October you spend £1500 but refund £1000 from September, your cumulative spend with be only £500 and you'll need to thereafter spend another £9500: £11k in total.
This can also be useful if you want to try to defer triggering next year's voucher for as long as possible because you've got no immediate use for it and you don't want its validity period rotting away because it got triggered too early.
