Called three times:
8/30 - offered 10k points, said I'd think about it and will call back
9/6 first call - offered nothing, lady called my bluff I think as I have another 5 months left on this fee, said I'd discuss and call back
9/6 second call - spoke to a guy, was much clearer about why I wanted to cancel, mentioned Chase Saphire. He offered 10k points, I said that was not enough and would need 50k. He misheard and assumed this was offered previously, I didn't correct him and he attempted to apply. 50k was accepted by their system and I accepted.
Personal Amex Platinum, annual spend ~$100k, held the card for ~4 years. This is the first time I've sought out a retention bonus.
