I stayed at the Marriott, (Sharq was not available). Hotel aesthetic is a bit dated but otherwise fine. It is connected to the mall so was useful in July heat when you cannot be outside for long. Has a pool and a nice fitness room. As MRR Gold, got free breakfast in restaurant. There is also an exec lounge but I did not visit so cannot comment on the spread.
To be honest, I selected (and stayed at) the Sharq because of its' close proximity to the airport. The only wow factor at the hotel was the pool. However, the water was so hot it seemed like it would be gross to enter. The room was fine, nothing fab about it. In fact, if I had paid for the room, I would have been a bit underwhelmed.
