SYD-SIN-HND/NRT-LAX, later changed to AKL-SYD-SIN-HND/NRT-LAX, then AKL-SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX, finally AKL-SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX.
NZ J/SQ F/SQ F/NH F.
Overnights (but not stopovers) in SIN and TYO.
- Booked 9 months out
- 127,500 miles
- S$420 taxes+fees
- Called in to book (partner award)
- Inventory seen by phone agents always matched sq.com or ua.com, except for NZ J seats, which took a few rounds of HUACA
- Finding inventory was pretty easy. SYD-SIN-TYO had decent availability, NZ's morning trans-Tasman flights always seemed to have J space (if you could get SQ to see it) and NH has ample TPAC F space available.
- Only unhappiness is that NZ downgraded my original flight from a 787 to a single-cabin narrowbody, so I had to change to the next flight to stay in J. I wanted to fly WLG-SYD or ZQN-SYD but I just couldn't get SQ to see the award seats shown on UA's site
