this is right after the section on how to earn the bonus miles; it wasn't hidden by any means.

So why is this important detail listed in tiny print? Look how it is advertised on AA page. Right now it is a higher sign up bonus - up to 3k and no surveys required. But nevertheless, you will see how it was advertised during June - there is a list of what's needed to be done in larger print w/o mention of surveys.
