A data point I'd like to add that shows the pseudo MPM is somewhat of a black box:
HKG-FRA-DFW-YYZ (LH F for the first 2 segments, AC J for the 3rd) was accepted. That's a whopping 12,040 miles.

HKG-HND-FRA-EWR-YYZ in NH J, NH F, LH F and AC Y was rejected. That routing is only 11,854.
