UAPremExecflyer. Upgrades (especially to Business/First) are incredibly rare these days, and like everyone has pointed out, is usually reserved to very frequent flyers with status. Qatar, serving primarily long-haul international routes (>6 hrs) makes it even harder to score an upgrade (as opposed to short-haul flights of 1-2 hrs). In addition, airlines that give out frequent upgrades would ultimately annoy paying premium passengers because due to the really high prices they pay.
