Yes I would agree you are entitled to both - just checking you weren't missing the bigger element!
Interesting question as to whether travel insurance would pick up your replacement flight cost - perhaps not if, in the end, it was your choice to cancel rather than accept BA's rerouting but you could argue it was no a suitable option.
