I am guessing this in Economy? My guess is that their default is to simply not confirm the flight, then refund the flight afterwards.

Seems a bit disingenuous especially when they are still selling ex-DXB etc. fares for later this year, but have no certainty if they can actually fly them.

An article in today's local paper saying that Qatari's are selling their Dubai properties for 20% off and taking big losses so seems optimistic that the situation will be back to normal anytime soon.
