The cabin crew did ask but the passenger to lower his shade but he merely dropped it a couple on inches. I found this to be a very selfish act when he could of simply used the shoulder light.
Two opposite views I guess. I suppose the passenger at the window would say there was nothing selfish about it as you could have used an eye mask.

Plus if the sun was up then it clearly wasn't night time where the plane was and the passenger might say it was all part of the process of getting attuned to the time difference.
