I agree with you and was thinking the same thing when I first read it. I mean who would create a flyertalk profile just to offer their "generosity" to complete strangers. You'd have to be completely naive to take the OP's post at face value.
Ok thanks I didn't think I was crazy. OTOH, if it was a vet that has built up a lot of credibility here I would've said "Wow that's an awesome gesture, you're so generous!"
But I'd still insist on an in-person meeting first.
