I had been planning on cancelling the PR Gold for a while now but never got around to it due mainly to laziness. So when I saw a 75k/$5k offer to apply for the Platinum, I finally got off my couch yesterday and gave them a call hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone by trying to get something for upgrading. Somehow the rep refused to give me anything to upgrade the account and stated that the offer is only for new applications for the platinum. Even when I told him I was going to cancel the PR Gold, he still wouldn't budge. However, he did offer me $50 credit now and then after I spend $500 in the next 3 month, another $50 credit if I retain the card. Long story short, I charged $565 on that card today and will try for an incentivized upgrade again before cancelling. At worst, I'll just get the CSR instead.
