Amex PRG - had the card (first as Green, then later, Gold) since 1991. AF just hit. 2k spent last year. Had retention offer last year but none showed this year. Closed.
Amex Everyday Preferred - had the card for a few years. 16k spent last year. Asked rep to check since I'm already on the phone with Retention. No new retention offer. Kept open for now. AF won't hit until next month.
AF on my Amex Everyday Preferred just hit, so I called. Front line rep (he had an Indian accent) transferred me to a very chatty lady who identified someone who is based out of Fort Lauderdale. She gave me the option of downgrading to the fee-free Everyday card, or $50 statement credit. I took the $50 credit. She was very nice but did manage to talk my ear off about the benefits of the card, which I was already very familiar with.
