Not meant with any sort of political motive. The point is, if your brand is spilling over into popular culture as a byword for incompetence then you are in a precarious place. I have no doubt Delta will recover but they'd better hope there isn't another meltdown in the near future.

It's all anecdotal but I've got friends (occasional flyers) who were caught in last August's or January's meltdown who are still pissed at their treatment and won't step foot on a Delta plane. Yes, they'll forget that the first time they have a problem with AA/UA/WN etc but it still not a good thing.

Look at the tarmac delay rules -- it didn't take long after attention was focused on a few egregious examples before there were new rules in place.

And I sure hope somebody is smart enough to pull those ads where they were tooting their own horn about on time performance...
