Just to update you guys. Price is down to $849 and I did complete this run. Took a taxi to the beach, stayed over night and enjoyed the sun in the AM and went back. Beach obviously isn't as polished as Mexico or some of the other Carribean destinations but it was still beautiful and I didn't feel unsafe at all. Worth checking out.
