Absolutely true - LH is not flexible at all on changes. A few months ago, my husband was home in Russia for his grandfather's 100th birthday party. My husband was trying to extend his stay for a few days when his grandfather fell seriously ill, but they would not make any exceptions. They said the only option was to buy a new ticket back to the US.
