XN is for any elite or someone with any Chase card. IN is for Plat or above.

The legs should clear independently of each other, but it doesn't hurt to keep watching LAX-MEL for I space just in case.

The odds of clearing a waitlist into I are poor, I would say. RM has the flight blocked up to Z (J9 C8 Z6 P0), and you only have 10 seats left for every business flyer who learns they need to be in MEL next week.
