Operated for years - and could be booked / ticketed on GDS's, unlike the current Garuda flight from Jakarta. Operated via SIN for one year as well. They always have a 'Northern Flight' as most of the island has Asian heritage and the Virgin flights from Perth (4 hours) cannot carry cargo. The island (mined for phosphurus) has acidic soil so can't grow much - thus the northern flight brings in fresh fruit a veg (it's the most expensive place in Australia to buy a lettuce, but by virture of being a duty free island an incredible place to buy wine / ciggies!). My flight had 10 passengers on a 737 but made money from cargo. Is now a big dive / eco tourism destination (think crab migration). It's also a rubbish place to go at Christmas!
