EK have repeatedly said they are not interested in any alliances. (Let's face it, they're doing pretty darn well all on their own. )
As recently as the New York flights launch the CEO iterated again they are not looking to join an alliance, in response to a question from an industry journo.
If Qatar and Gulf jump in to an alliance each though, there may be some rethinking down the track, although I believe Qatar has also publicly stated they aren't interested in an alliance either. Gulf, on the other hand, seems to be very keen on the idea.
