exDUB ILN8S4C1 Advanced Purchase Fare

Post & prices updated May 2017

This is a 28 day advanced purchase exDUB fares. It is obviously not as cheap as a sale fare, but it is not a bad price. As this is an advanced purchase fare there is no end date or ‘ticket by’ date.

The fare does cover travel dates for early 2018. However, if you are looking for Easter 2018 you need to bear in mind that AA flights are only released at 330 days whilst BA flights are released at 355 days.

Example prices for summer 2017, all price with a LHR connection. Slightly lower prices may be found by taking the direct AA DUB-US flights:

JFK - €1,474 €1,427 €1,527
MIA - €1,530 €1,532 €1,590
ORD - €1,659 €1,660 €1,714
LAS - €1,524 €1,667 €1,740
LAX - €1,743 €1,795 €1,843
HNL - €2,043 €2,095 €1,823 (priced with LHR, JFK, and PHX connections)

There is a BA DUB-LCY service which started in October 2014 and there is an early morning arrival in to LCY you can do a same day connection from DUB to LCY connecting on to BA1 departing at 0945. Any booking made on BA1-4 will only now earn 140 TPs.

There is also a AY DUB-HEL service starting in March 2015 which you may be able to add in, so DUB-HEL-LHR/LCY-JFK- etc. DUB-HEL gets 40 TPs and the 80 TP rate would only apply to HEL-LHR as shorthaul+ is only exUK. Adding HEL may increase the price by £80-100 due to mileage restrictions.

Another alternative is DUB-MAD-LHR or DUB-LHR-MAD before doing the TATL. As there are more and more EI flights with BA codeshares now you could also do routings like DUB-AMS-LHR which would get you 60 TPs compared to DUB-LHR which would get you 40 TPs. Bear in mind there is no business cabin on EI shorthaul. DUB-MAN-LHR would also be possible, but this would get you 20+20 TPs so no more than DUB-LHR.

Travel from inbound transatlantic sector must commence no earlier than the first sun after departure of the outbound transatlantic sector.
This allows positioning for your inbound TATL prior to the Sunday. You can therefore set off from HNL on Friday night arriving in PHX on Saturday morning, do PHX-JFK during Saturday, have a night in NYC on Saturday night and then do your TATL on Sunday.

Travel from last stopover must commence no later than midnight 12 months after departure from fare origin.
Stopovers can be done in Europe. Bear mind the cost of doing a stopover in London on the way out is a lot more expensive since APD is £142, so the total additional cost of adding a stopover in London would be €75 + £142 + any other airport fees. As the fee for stopovers in the US has been changed to €600 I imagine no one would now be interested in doing a stopover there.

Code:
ORIGINATING EUROPE -
UNLIMITED STOPOVERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION IN
        EUROPE AT EUR 150.00 EACH.
       CHILD/INFANT DISCOUNTS APPLY.
AND - UNLIMITED STOPOVERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION IN
THE UNITED STATES/CANADA/MEXICO AT EUR 600.00
              EACH.
             CHILD/INFANT DISCOUNTS APPLY.
If you want to stopover in London on the way back it is a lot cheaper since the APD would only be £26 for the LHR-DUB leg. Therefore at fairly minimal additional cost you can stopover in London on the return to go home, and then do the last leg some weeks or months later at your convenience.

2 transfers permitted in each direction free.
So 2 in Europe and 2 in the US each way.

An overnight connection of up to 24 hrs between flights would be counted as a transfer, anything beyond that would be a stopover.

To HNL the optimal routing is something like DUB-HEL-LHR-XXX-LAX/PHX-HNL and return which gets you 1080 TPs. If you leave HEL out coming back then reduce by 80 TPs, and if you leave HEL out both out and back reduce to 920 TPs. XXX can be any east coast city provided that XXX-LAX/PHX is a > 2,000 mile flight.

If you look at post #2 of this thread there is a list of >2,000 mile flights.

Permitted
19 March through 12 April or
25 June through 22 August or
23 November through 30 November or
18 December through 04 January
for each transatlantic sector.
Note that the both outbound and inbound transatlantic flights must be within the permitted dates.

Reservations for all sectors are required at least 28 days before departure.
