One UA-specific problem me and my wife used to have (we are both PRE) is that when I booked the ticket for both of us and the auto-splitting happened for CPU, she didn't get PRE (even though I had her KTN# included on the booking). Now we just book on separate PNRs, so I don't know if this is still going on.
By the way, I once had a friend who is not a citizen, not even a resident and had not set foot in the country for about 4 years get PRE because he was on the same PNR with me (this happened about two years ago).
