I arrive at SIN on UA early morning on the 10th and have 11 hours before my next flight on Air Asia. I wil have to claim bags and then check in again, which could bring up some issues.

If I decide to get 6 hours of sleep in the transit hotel, can I check in around 2am and stay until 8am? Would my bag presumably be available for me to claim several hours after my arrival? Is it typically best to make a reservation at the hotel, or is it typically OK to walk up to the counter?

Or am I making this too difficult? Should I just get off the plane, get my luggage, go through Customs, and check into a hotel near the airport?

Also, it appears that Air Asia (AK) allows early checkin in Terminal 1 at 5:30am. Does that seem correct?
