Does anyone have info on the 2017 AA status challenges?

I tried to call AA CS but they're closed right now, and I thought someone here might know the answer. For context, I'm currently AA Gold and looking to get Platinum Pro or Platinum if possible.
"Is it better to start on 6/16 or 1/1?" Historically, if you start on 6/16 you get the status for longer. Of course if you start on 1/1, you get it sooner. It depends on which works better for you, and that may also relate to whether or not you intend to requalify during the year. If there isn't already a post, why not call them when they are open and post the results here?
