That awkward moment when the 12-page paper you thought was due on next Wednesday is actually due on Sunday....
Other news: today we had a class about our future in science. The prof talked about the process to get admitted to a PhD at this university. I'm not planning to apply, and even I got anxious while listening to him. Apparently you have to finish your thesis two months early and hand it in, then undergo an oral exam with a panel composed of people from a bunch of different specialties (eg stats, biochemistry, physics,...), and then present a research project to that panel -- basically the equivalent of prelims, except you're not even a PhD student yet -- and only the top 15 students (based on presentation + grades) get funding! And I thought the US was cutthroat...
