I book on AA stock (via Citi TYP @ 0.016 ) if its cheaper or BA when its cheaper after using AARP+Chase discount. Sometimes I've paid a bit more for AA when I plan to use my SWU's
1. I do this far less frequently than you.
2. I book for leisure so at least 1 week duration.
With that said - I have yet to find AA (001 ticket) to be cheaper than BA with AARP discount in Y, PE, or J.
