Iguazu to close for two months?

Local press reports indicate that Iguazu airport may close for two months next year .
Essential runway repairs and renovation to the terminal building will mean a two month closure, probably after the Easter holidays
Local authorities are looking at using Ciudad del Este airport in Paraguay as a stop gap to avoid losing an excessive amount of tourists who arrive by air. Plans to use Foz de Iguazu airport in Brazil seem to have been rejected as tourism officials believe that the Brazilians would “steal “ the tourists and divert them to Brazilian hotels.
Sounds like a total mess. The car journey from Ciudad del Este Airport to Puerto Iguazu tales about an hour and a quarter assuming no delays at Immigration and Customs. The journey from Foz Airport to Puerto Iguazu takes about 20-25 minutes.
I certainly hope that the government people are talking to the airlines as I am not too sure that Aerolineas and Latam would be happy about operating international flights instead of a 90 minute domestic sector.
