True. But, let's say, you wanted to post a news story inside of the "quote" function on an existing thread. That doesn't count towards your 10 characters, so you can't just post the story, which is annoying.
I've enabled the letter count for the quote tags, so that shouldn't be an issue now. As for reducing the minimum character count from 10, we haven't reached a decision on it yet.
