Of course, if it works out (and I would definitely NOT try to intentionally miss the flight) then you might have to book a hotel in FRA at last notice, but if you've a connection that is often delayed into MUC (and be it just 20min - with a 35min connection, that will break it more often than not) then you could speculate on it.. if you dare
Thanks for all the comments. Decided to overnight in MUC and grab a flight MUC-DEN-BUR (instead of FRA-LAX, MUC-LAX never opened up). Overall a little worse but not too bad.
