While you still have your PLT status, I'd just continue to use AA. As mentioned, in theory you're not supposed to be able to get your PLT benefits while crediting to another program, so just enjoy your status for a few more months.
At some point next year, let AA know that you've switched to WN in the hopes that eventually they'll take the hint and try to improve the program to the point that it's a positive differentiator again.
