Are you sure you're not spreading misinformation?

My understanding of how FeliCa has been working on (Japan-only) Android phones for years and years now is that there is a hardware component.

At the very least, Apple in the original link is naming hardware:

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus & Apple Watch Series 2 to Support FeliCa
not software.
