Supposedly there will be a little more than 50 MD80s left at year end. What seems to be questioned (at least on airliners.net) is will the MD80 be gone for good by year end 2017. I will miss the really comfy F seat and the 2L seats.
I think it's pretty much accepted the remaining 52 MD-80s (eoy 2016) will be retired in 2017.
