While the thread referenced by Offerendum above is authoritative, it is also very long and started in 2005. So I am going to close that one and retitle this one as the new thread for general discussion about Bangkok.

P.S. I've only stayed at the Pen in Bangkok but I felt it was a true luxury hotel as well as an excellent value.
