That I struggle with - it still pisses me off now as this thread has resurrected the memory.
I'm with you. How did we come to a society where some people think it's perfectly acceptable to move someone's personal belongings away from them without finding out who they belong to and then asking to help out in a certain situation? And I've seen it often enough that I now have to pay attention to the overhead during boarding, rather than being able to focus on something else.
