InterContinental Le Grand Hôtel - Bordeaux

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very much

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and received an Opera view junior suite

How are the rooms?
Very elegant design by Jacques Garcia, French Empire style re-interpretation
Around 35 sqm

Seating area
Desk
Very comfortable bed

1 large Loewe flat screen television with iPhone dock. Good selection of cable channels (but not possible to switch smart tv movies into English speaking version).

Small but nice marble bathroom with a bathtub
Separate toilets
Agraria amenities (which is a disappointment, considering there is an excellent Nuxe spa at the hotel)

Very quiet
Nice view of the Opera

Cannelés pastries (I love them) and Moët&Chandon champagne were offered as welcome amenities.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
- Very attentive staff, service at the highest level you could find only at very best hotels
- Unbeatable location
- Elegant historic hotel with all the modern facilities
- Great gastronomic restaurant by Gordon Ramsay (very well executed cuisine, friendly and attentive staff - who might however be a bit more organized).
- Pleasant brasserie serving good traditionnal foods, efficient and smiling service
- Superb Nuxe spa (loved the massage, counter-current swimming pool) : perfectly clean and well maintained, excellent satff)
- Great rooftop jaccuzi with panoramic view
- Bikes can be rented at the hotel to visit the superb city of Bordeaux

BAD
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Definitely
Be prepared to spend a lot at this hotel, if you visit the gastronomic restaurant, the brasserie and the spa.
