Reward nights often sell out fast at better properties. If you know that you want to use the certs in the Oct/Nov time frame every year you should each get a card in late November.
This way you will have the certs in hand ready to book when the dates open up the following year.
Example, apply this November 20 , 2016. Free Cert posts about November 20, 2017 and you should them be able to book your Oct/Nov 2018 free nights and so on.
