$16k spend last year. AF just hit. Never asked for retention on this card (have had it since 2012).

Just called and was told "we don't waive the fee for anyone" and then I tried asking from another angle (aka, is there some sort of way I can offset the fee by spending a certain amount) and was also told no. Then she told me I could downgrade to the no AF Blue Cash Everyday with a $250 statement credit and 0% APR for 15 months.

I said I'd think about it and hung up - I'll try again in a couple days but I'd rather keep the SPG with some bonus
