Should be a very slow journey, but not necessarily dangerous.
IDOT keeps the highways fairly clear of snow, which is great, but traffic in that direction on I94 any time between 4-7:30 PM is usually horrible.
The traffic does slow down considerably in snow and rain, but it's still safe--just extremely irritating.
Just be careful and you'll be fine, as long as you don't get overconfident and aggressive because you happen to be driving in an SUV. (a common trait around here)
