Maybe because LOS (and CAI) are generally less-served airports with no really appealing alternatives?

As another fun example, Emirates sells MRU-SEZ routings, but not MRU-JNB. You can also go from LOS to CMN or LAD, but apparently not to other west African destinations.

On the other hand, Emirates publishes fares on routes like SFO-ICN or SEA-NRT, which are also monumentally out of the way and on which there are tons of alternatives.

Qatar Airways used to publish, and indeed had promotional fares, on BCN-DOH-GRU, which seemed crazy.
