No show fee ?
I called to make a BKK-IAD reservation for 12/2016. The agent was telling me the fees (J ticket) and I asked what the no show fee was. He said that if I didn't check in 3 hours before departure then I was consider a no show and my flights would be canceled. Then I would have to pay the $500 no show fee + the fare difference. He said that I may not be able to check in online and that the airport counters opened 3-4 hours before departure. I asked that only gives a small window for 300+ people to check in. he didn't have an answer for that. I didn't book the ticket yet.
Can anyone shed their experiences with the 3 hour check in requirement. I am always 2 to 2 1/2 hours early and 3 is no big deal but I am concerned about things out of my control like an auto accident that ties up traffic.
